Tiernan wanted a real Chameleon for his birthday, but that wasn't really an option, so I gave him the next best thing. A chameleon cake, of course! I made a white chocolate cake and colored the batter green, blue and yellow and then swirled it just a little bit in the pan before baking. Then came the fun part - decorating! It was kind of a pain to carve a cake that isn't dense like a pound cake and the mouth looks ridiculous because it started to cave in (it's supposed to be open) and I was a little worried that it wouldn't look very good but in the end I was pleased and T loved it. :)

Happy Halloween Birthday!

We had a combined Birthday party for Justin/Halloween party on Halloween and I made this cake for J. It was Buttermilk Devil's Food cake with Bavarian cream filling and butter cream icing. Deeelish! I made the haunted house by hand from candy melts. (The idea for this cake came from the Wilton website but this is a scaled down version of the one they made. The house would've had a "cleaner", smooth look w/ royal icing, but it wouldn't have been as tasty and I thought this looked more spooky anyway.)
