Tea Party Birthday!

We had a service auction at church and I offered to make a cake. I was super excited when the winner of that auction said she was having a tea party theme for her daughter's birthday because I've always wanted to make a teapot cake. I had trouble with the spout - I had one all sculpted out of fondant and it kept falling and the skewers kept poking through so I scrapped that and invented this funky spout made with balls of fondant. I wasn't thrilled with it, but I was running out of time and didn't know what else to do. I was happy with the rest of the cake though.

The cake was sour cream chocolate cake with buttercream frosting, covered in fondant.

Another - smaller - wedding cake

I made this as a favor for a friend - the bride and groom just needed a small tier to cut for their reception here, and I was given free reign to decorate it however I wanted, but with the aqua and purple color scheme. I went with a more modern take on the flowers for a change. This could also work well as a birthday cake, anniversary cake, etc. The cake was vanilla with vanilla buttercream, covered in fondant.

This was the cake that I made for my brother and his lovely bride!  It was a fun cake for a beautiful, fun couple!
The bottom tier was vanilla bean cake, the middle tier was buttermilk devil's food cake and the top tier was banana cake, all filled and frosted with vanilla buttercream. I made all of the magnolias out of gumpaste.
